Historical Buildings
The ball clay deposits of the Teign Valley are some of the finest in England. Pottery has always been made in these parts as a result.
From the late 1700's Bovey Tracey developed as a major pottery producer. These buildings housed the biggest manufactory in the area. At it's peak the Bovey Tracey Pottery Company employed 350 people.
Visitors are free to wander around most of the remaining buildings, view the surviving and listed kilns and learn about this pottery in the museum, where a huge collection is growing.
Take refreshments or lunch in The Old Pottery Café and Restaurant situated in what were once the old glazing rooms.
